There's not much to see or do in Ancona, although many travellers find themselves passing through to catch a ferry to Croatia or Greece.

Coming & going

The train station is situated a fair way from the centre of town. The busy Via 29 Settembre runs between the train station and the port; there are several buses plying this route.

The ferry port is right near the centre which means that there is plenty to see and do while you're waiting for your boat. There are frequent ferry services to Split and Zadar (Croatia); Corfu, Igoumentisa and Patras (Greece) and Izmir (Turkey).
