Funen (Fyn)

Situated between Jutland and Zealand, this rural retreat is now easily accessible by bridge and tunnel making it a popular transit corridor between Jutland and Copenhagen.

Egeskov Slot

One of Denmark's most impressive castles featuring a moat, drawbridge and manicured gardens.

Coming & Going

Egeskov Slot is located 2km from Kvændrup which is on the Odense-Svendborg rail line. You can also take bus 801 from Odense to Kvændrup Bibliotek and transfer to bus 920. The bus is a little cheaper and drops you off at the castle.

Fåborg (Faaborg)

Once a busy harbour city, Fåborg is now a small town retaining many of the buildings and cobblestone streets from its 17th century heyday.

The only way to get to Fåborg is by bus, unless you have a car. Buses 960, 961 and 962 run to Fåborg from Odense.

Hans Christian Anderson's birthplace and Denmark's third largest city is a fairly so-so place offering a 12th century cathedral and a couple of good museums, but not much else.
