Jutland is the large peninsula comprising the bulk of the Danish land mass. The only part of Denmark connected to the European continent, Jutland encompasses a broad cross section of Danish culture with major cities such as Aalborg and Arhus, historic towns like Ribe, rural pastures and holiday resorts.
Aalborg
Denmark's fourth largest city was originally a Viking settlement. Nowadays this affluent city is Denmark's largest producer of aquavit. Aalborg's attractions include Lindholm Høje - the country's largest Viking burial ground.

Frederickshavn
This major ferry port is an important transit point for travellers enroute to Norway and Sweden. Although the city isn't very interesting in comparision with other places in the region, the Bangsbomuseet is a fascinating place to visit for those with time on their hands.

Coming & Going
Frederikshavn has good bus and rail connections to both Aalborg and Copenhagen.
Most travellers visit Frederikshavn for its ferry connections to Sweden and Norway. Color Line, SeaCat and Stena Line operate ferries to Göteborg, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. Ferry services are both frequent and competitively priced.

Ribe
Denmark's oldest town is home to several historic sites dating from Viking times. The city is easy to explore with most attractions clustered in the central area. Attractions include a 12th century cathedral and numerous medieval buildings.

Århus (Aarhus)
Denmark's second largest city has been an important trading centre since Viking times and is now a happening university city with the country's best live music scene and loads of things to see and do including Den Gamle By (open-air museum), Denmark's longest cathedral, a Viking museum and the Prehistoric museum in the Moesgård woods south of the city centre. Each Wednesday in summer there are tours of the Ceres Brewery, you can get tickets (5kr) from the tourist office although they are often sold out.
