Greece

Greece can be an interesting country to visit. It has a rich history dating thousands of years and numerous important historic sites. However most visitors don't come for the history (many other European countries do a much better job at preserving and managing their historic sites and only people who have studied Greek history and culture in depth really seem to appreciate the country's historical significance) and for most people a visit to Greece is all about sunshine, island-hopping and partying. Many backpackers treat a visit to Greece as a holiday from their holiday, taking a break from the standard European itinerary of museums and culture by kicking back on the beach and hitting the bars and nightclubs for a week or two.
