Istria

The Istrian Penninsula is the most accessible region in Croatia, easily accessible from both Italy and Slovenia.

Porec

Porec is one of the main resorts on the Istrian coast. Many tourists come here for the beaches, although the ancient Roman and medieval town also boasts the 6th century Basilica of Euphrasis with an adjoining bell tower which offers great views from the top.

There aren't many place in Poreè offering private rooms, although you could try VITS Turizam, otherwise there are a couple of camping grounds 6km south of town near the Zelena Laguna resort.

Pula

The major regional city on the peninsula, Pula is a cheaper place to base yourself than the other Istrian resorts. Originally a Roman settlement, Pula boasts a citadel, amphitheatre and Roman ruins.

Rovinj

This picturesque port is a popular destination unspoilt by tourism. The old town dates from the 7th century and is dominated by the St Euphemia Cathedral.
