Interlaken has two train stations. Westbahnhof is the more central of the two while Ostbahnhof is about a ten-minute walk from the centre of town.
Generally Westbahnhof is the better from trains to Bern, Basel and other destinations in western Switzerland and Ostbahnhof is a better choice from trains going east. A lot of trains stop at both stations.
Jungfraubahn (tel (033) 828 71 11) operates most local trains, including trains to Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Wengen. Jungfraubahn trains depart from Ostbahnhof. This train takes around 40 minutes to travel between Interlaken and Grindelwald and costs SFR 10.20.
