Around LisbonCascais & EstorilOriginally a fishing village, Cascais became a popular seaside resort for Portuguese royalty and nobility in the 19th century. This cosmopolitan town is a very popular destination on hot summer days when thousands of people visit the beaches. Estoril is only 2km east of central Cascais and it is home to Europe's largest casino. Of the twin resort towns, Estoril tends to be more upmarket and boring while Cascais is more lively with bars and pubs and surf beaches nearby.
