Salamanca

The 13th century university in Salamanca is Spain's oldest and the city's prime attraction. In many ways Salamanca is Spain's equivalent to Oxford or Cambridge and the city has a vibrant student scene.

Salamanca's Plaza Mayor is one of the country's most vibrant central squares and makes a great place to hang out and take in the atmosphere. The Museo Taurino (bull museum), the 12th century Iglesia de San Martín and the information centre are located here.

South from the square, towards the river are the two cathedrals, Catedral Nueva and the smaller Catedral Vieja.
