This industrial city is home to both Mercedes Benz and Porsche, however the city offers much more than heavy industry and flash cars. Stuttgart boasts some excellent museums, reconstructed architecture and nearby forests making this one of Germany's most livable (and visitable) cities.

The Hauptbahnhof is located in the centre of town and is connected to the U-Bahn and S-Bahn public transport systems. There are direct trains to destinations throughout Germany.
The Eurolines bus station is located next to the central train station.
There are several Mitzfahrzentrale (ride sharing agencies) who can match you up with someone driving to your destination.

Stuttgart Airport is about half an hour from the city centre. S-Bahn lines 2 and 3 operate frequent services between Hauptbahnhof and the airport.
VVS operates Stuttgart's public transport system which is comprised of trams, buses and both an S-Bahn and U-Bahn urban rail system. The transit network is divided into zones. A single-zone ticket is €1.95, while a two-zone ticket is €2.40. The TagesTicket is a good deal if you plan on travelling around town a lot. This daily travel pass allows unlimited travel within one zone for €5.80, or throughout the whole network for €12.
