Language
The different languages in Europe are both one of the challenges and one of the highlights of travelling in Europe. In many aspects the various languages give each country its own cultural identity and help reinforce the fact that you've come a long way from home.
Although some people can become frustrated by the communication barrier, the chance to try out new languages is all part of the fun of travelling. We've compiled a list of the most useful phrases of the main European languages so you can get by, although it is worth the effort to invest in a more thorough phrasebook or take a short course in the language of a country or region where you want to travel more extensively.
It's a good idea to get an idea of the language before arriving in Europe, apart from doing courses, you can have a look at European web sites and magazines on the web.
