Coming & going

AIR
Peretola Airport

Florence's Peretola Airport (also known as Amerigo Vespucci Airport) is just 13km from the city centre. It is a relatively small airport that handles mostly short-haul European flights.

The Volainbus runs between the airport and Autostazione SITA every half hour. The one-way fare is €5 (€8 return).

Pisa Airport

Most travellers are more likely to arrive at Tuscany's other major airport, Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa. Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport (PSA) is just 2km from Pisa's central train station and 88km from Florence. It is a much busier airport than Florence's Peretola Airport and handles European flights as well as some longer-haul flights. It is a hub for Ryanair and also served by other low-cost airlines such as Air Berlin, easyJet, Jet2 and Vueling.

Pisa Airport has its own train station with trains every 30 minutes to Pisa, although trains to Florence only run five times per day. If there isn't a direct train to Florence, just catch a train to Pisa where there is a more frequent service to Florence. The train from Pisa Airport to Florence costs €5.70 (it costs €1.10 to go to Pisa). Terravision buses also connect Pisa Airport with Florence. The one-way fare is €10 (€16 return).

BUS & COACH

Buses and coaches depart from Autostazione SITA and go to destinations throughout Tuscany. There are also some longer distance coach services that depart from here.

TRAIN

Stazione Santa Maria Novella is the main station and it is only a short walk from the centre.
