Glasgow

Once known as the 'second city of the Empire', Glasgow is Scotland's largest (and Britain's second largest) city. It may not be quite as impressive or as popular with tourists as Edinburgh, less than an hour to the east; but there are plenty of top attractions. It is also home to Scotland's best nightlife and the best shopping in Britain outside of London.

Glasgow is a popular destination with architecture buffs that come here to see the uniquely Glaswegian art nouveau creations of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
