Lisbon is one of the cheapest European capitals to eat out, particularly if you order the prato do dia (meal of the day).

Portuguese food is excellent, with an emphasis on seafood. Portuguese pastries are also delicious and they make an excellent snack.

The Mercado Ribeira at Avenida 24 de Julio is a good, centrally located supermarket.
