Ljubljana

Ljubljana is a little like Salzburg without the Von Trapp family and is one of Europe's prettiest cities. However no Von Trapp family means no tacky Sound of Music tours, which makes the Slovene capital a much more authentic European experience. Not only is Ljubljana quaint, pretty and virtually tourist free - there is also a load of things to see and do. There's the usual collection of old stuff such as the Opera, museums, art galleries and churches, plus the impressive view of the city from Ljubljana Castle.
