Destinations > Czech Republic > Prague > Coming & Going
PragueComing & GoingPrague enjoys very good transport connections with destinations both within eastern and western Europe. TRAINMost trains stop at Hlavni nadrazi, although many trains, particularly those from Berlin, stop at Nadrazi Holesovice station. Masarykovo nadrazi and Smichovske nadrazi serve local and domestic routes. BUSDomestic and international buses leave from Florenc station, located at Krizikova 4 (metro Florenc). AIRPrague's Ruzyne Airport is located around 20km north of the city centre. CSA and local buses leave from Dejvicka metro station for Ruzyne Airport. The local buses are the cheaper alternative since you can use your travel pass to get to the airport. Bus 119 runs between the airport and Dejvicka metro station during the day; after hours the night bus 510 runs between the airport and Divoká ?árka where you can connect with tram 51. HITCHHIKINGHitch-hiking is a popular means of transport among Czech students and it can be a good cheap way to get around the country although there can often be a lot of local competition during holiday periods. Motorways generally start on the outskirts of town with reasonably good public transport connections to the prime hitch-hiking spots which makes it pretty easy to get a lift out of town. If you're heading to Plzen or towards Germany the E50, which starts in Stodulky in the western suburbs is the best route. For lifts to Brno, Bratislava and onwards towards Budapest, the E50/E65 is the best route. You can hitch a lift at the beginning of this motorway at Sporilov which is accessible by metro line C. BUG Ride (website http://europe.bugride.com) is our own web-based ride sharing service, it allows travellers to both offer lifts and search for rides throughout Europe. This is a free service which links travellers to drivers - you contact the driver by email when you have found the ride you want.Follow the directions for Slavonska avenija and use a sign marked Varazdin or Budapest for a lift towards Hungary. |
