Prague

Coming & going

Prague enjoys very good transport connections with destinations both within eastern and western Europe.

AIR

Prague Ruzyně Airport is around 10km (6 miles) west of the city centre.

CSA and local buses leave from Dejvická metro station for Ruzyne Airport. The local buses are the cheaper alternative since you can use your travel pass to get to the airport. Bus 119 runs between the airport and Dejvická metro station.

There is also an express airport bus (AE Airport Express) that runs between Prague's main train station and terminals North 1 and North 2.

COACH

Domestic and international coaches leave from Florenc station, at Krizikova 4 (metro Florenc).

TRAIN

Most trains stop at hlavní nádraží, although many trains, particularly those from Berlin, stop at nádraží Holešovice station. Masarykovo nádraží and Smíchovské nádraží serve local and domestic routes.

HITCHHIKING

Hitch-hiking is a popular means of transport among Czech students and it can be a good cheap way to get around the country although there can often be a lot of local competition during holiday periods.

Motorways generally start on the outskirts of town with reasonably good public transport connections to the prime hitchhiking spots which makes it pretty easy to get a lift out of town.

If you're heading to Plzen or towards Germany the E50, which starts in Stodulky in the western suburbs is the best route.

For lifts to Brno, Bratislava and onwards towards Budapest, the E50/E65 is the best route. You can hitch a lift at the beginning of this motorway at Sporilov which is accessible by metro line C.
