TRAIN
Frequent train services connect Salzburg with other cities in the region, with hourly trains to Munich and Vienna.
BUS
Both domestic and international buses depart from Südtirolerplatz outside the main train station.
AIR
Salzburg's Airport is the second busiest in the country although Munich is close enough to be considered a secondary airport.
The airport is located only 4km from the city centre. Local bus route 77 operates between 7am and 10pm connecting the airport with the train station.
HITCHHIKING
Salzburg is one of the worst European cities to hitch from, especially if you're heading to Munich with many hitchers taking a train to Traunstein across the border in Germany and hitching from there. If you want to try your luck on the A1/E11 to Munich, take bus G to the Landstraße/Samstraße junction, walk 300 metres along Samstraße to Ruprechterstraße and wait at the Raststätte Kasern services.
If you're heading south to Croatia, Slovenia or Villach, take bus 3 to the terminus then walk south along Alpenstraße to the junction with the A10.
BUG Ride (website http://europe.bugride.com) is our own web-based ride sharing service, it allows travellers to both offer lifts and search for rides throughout Europe. This is a free service which links travellers to drivers - you contact the driver by email when you have found the ride you want.
