Train Travel in IrelandTrain travel is a good way to get around Ireland with an efficient network operated by Iarnród Éireann (website www.irishrail.ie), which connects most major towns and cities. The train is an effective way of travelling between Dublin and other major cities, but the bus may be a more efficient option if you don’t want to make a detour to Dublin when travelling between regional cities. One-way tickets are the most expensive travel option, costing more than day and weekend return tickets. A regular return ticket allows you to return within one month. Both Eurail and InterRail passes are valid in Ireland although there are a number of other passes and discount deals available.
