Ban's Palace (Banski dvori)

The presidential palace contains courtrooms and government offices. There is a changing of the guard ceremony at noon on weekends between April and September.

Mimara Museum

Zagreb's finest art museum was donated to the city by Ante Topic Mimara - a private collector. The Mimara museum features 3750 works of art including pieces by Raphael, Rembrant, Rubens, Van Gogh and Da Vinci. The museum also houses an archaeological collection with artefacts from ancient civilisations including Egypt, Greece, Mesopotamia and Rome.

Museum of Naïve Art

Croatia is regarded as one of the main centres of naïve art and the major Croatian naïve artists are represented in this gallery which contains over 1000 works.

St Mark's Church

This 17th century church is famous for its tiled roof depicting the medieval coats of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, Slavonia and Zagreb.

St Stephen's Cathedral

The twin spires of St Stephen's Cathedral dominate the old town. It's a spectacular building with a long history although the interior isn't all that special in comparison with other European cathedrals.

The Stone Gate

The Stone Gate at the intersection of Kamenita and Radiceva is the best preserved part of the old town's fortifications, and includes a 14th century chapel and examples of medieval shops.

Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters

This gallery was established in 1884 when Bishop Strossmayer donated a collection of 256 paintings. During subsequent years, the museum's collection has grown to over 4000 items although less than 300 are displayed at any time due to space constraints.
